About Ali
Ali Kesserwani is an anthropologist, researcher, entrepreneur, and graduate student currently pursuing a Doctorate in Biological Anthropology at Emory University. Researching Ancient DNA , Ali studies the genetic history of the Middle East as well as advanced computational applications to the field. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2024, where he earned a double major in Computer Science and Anthropology with a minor in Ancient and Medieval Studies. During his time at UAB, Ali focused on integrating computational methods and software development with archaeology and linguistics. In addition to Biological Anthropology and Archaeology, Ali enjoys researching ancient languages for fun.
He has been contributing to the Wisconsin Palmyrene Aramaic Project (WPAIP) at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and has published in ancient Aramaic inscriptions. In addition to this academic work, he has developed software for language learning - linguaberry.com - and databases designed to discover lost and potential archaeological sites via satellite imagery.
